Sahit Muja: The attacks on Justice John Roberts by Republicans are repulsive

The idea that The Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts is a traitor to conservatives is truly repulsive and unworthy.

"John Roberts should be ashamed of himself," Donald Trump said. "He's looking like a dummy. His decision was not written by the supposedly smart man he is .... The decision makes no sense."

As much as Chief Justice Roberts has been criticized from both the left and the right, Justice Roberts is right.

It is the voting American public that is ultimately responsible for the mess we've created.

Don't want more taxes, a ever larger federal government, more rules , debt, employees, cost and regulations, don't vote for Democrats.

Justice Roberts is a serious man, intellectually strong, who seems to understand that his job is to interpret the Constitution as best he can and without regard to the political consequences.

This is the job of each Justice. Justices are not Republicans or Democrats. 

Given what he believes, it would have betrayed his oath for Roberts to side with the four dissenters in order to support the opponents of the health care legislation just as it would have been wrong for the four dissenters to vote to strike down the law in order to help their cause.

Roberts explained his Spending Clause analysis and his reasons for upholding the balance of the law despite invalidating the Medicaid expansion in part.

Under the separation of powers, each branch of government has a specific function. The legislative branch, the Congress, makes the laws. The executive branch, the President, implements the laws. The judiciary, the court system, interprets the laws and decides legal controversies. The system of federal taxation provides a good example of each branch at work. Congress passes legislation regarding taxes. 

The president is responsible for appointing a director of the Internal Revenue Service to carry out the law through the collection of taxes. The courts rule on cases concerning the application of the tax laws.

There is a choice you have to make in 2012 election .

Mitt Romney seeks to reduce taxes, spending, regulation, and government programs. It seeks to increase trade, energy production, human capital, and labor flexibility. It relinquishes power to the states instead of claiming to have the solution to every problem.

President Obama sees the solution to the problem as higher taxes and more spending.

Americans should remember what is at stake going forward when they vote this year.

The right stimulus is less government, lower taxes and less burden on the business community.

President Obama and Democrats seem to live in fairy land where there is always somebody else who will work to pay for their projects.

The non-taxpayers Obama's supporters fail to understand that you have to work for what you get. Socialism - works great until you run out of other people's money.

Our nation's current debt, nearing $16 trillion, and our annual deficit of $1.2 trillion, indicate that government's addiction to spending is nowhere near its limit.
